Something for Everyone...
Outdoor Activities...
The Swallow Inn & Restaurant is a popular starting and finishing point for both Cyclists and Ramblers. With ample car parking and a guaranteed warm welcome this makes us ideal for those who like to enjoy the countryside and then enjoy some good food and drink! Relaxed dining is available within our Poachers Bar (dont worry about your walking boots or wet hair) or why not enjoy our Beer Garden and Decked Area when the weather is fine.
The Riley Club...
Used as a regular venue for this prestigous club, The Swallow Inn is proud to play host to the club on frequent occasions throughout the year. These classic vintage cars can often be seen within the car park and their proud owners are only too pleased to show off their pride and joy. On occasions the club teams up with the vintage motorbike club which provides a wonderful spectacle in the car park with the Swallow Inn forming a lovely backdrop.
For Our Younger Friends...
Our outdoor play area within the grassed beer garden is simply a must for families with young children. Swings, slides and climbing frames equals tired and happy children; what more can you wish for! Within the restaurant area we have finger puppets, puzzles and colouring books and crayons for the children (remember to enter the competition) whilst mum and dad can enjoy their well deserved food and perhaps a glass of wine or beer?
and For Your Canine Friends...
After that country walk, why not enjoy a drink within the Poachers Bar and your best friend will be given a bowl of water while you relax with a glass of something cold...
In early April, Swallows return to the UK after undertaking a mammoth 6,000 mile migration, often roosting communally in reed beds outside of the breeding season. They migrate by day at low altitudes and find food on the way. Migrating swallows cover 200 miles a day, mainly during daylight, at speeds of 17-22 miles per hour. The maximum flight speed is 35 mph.
